Her mother is Judy Loe, who has appeared in a number of British dramas and sitcoms and is still an actress, mostly in British productions on television. After a couple of television appearances, her breakthrough performance was in the 1993 romantic comedy "Much Ado about Nothing". Since then, she has starred in several notable films, such as "Emma" in 1996, "Pearl Harbor" in 2001 and "Underworld" in 2003, which also spawned five further movies in the series. Beckinsale was also featured in "Total Recall " in 2012 with Jessica Biel and Colin Farrel. Beckinsale also won numerous awards such as "Best Actress" at Sitges Catalan International Film Festival. The Evening Standard British Film Awards as well as the National Film Awards U.K.
